How LapMap Scores Work
The LapMap Score is a confidence-weighted average that combines ratings from multiple sources into a single score on a 1–5 scale. It is designed to be more reliable than any individual rating source.
Data Sources
We currently aggregate ratings from two primary sources:
- Google Reviews — Ratings and review counts from Google Maps, representing the general public’s experience. Scores are on a 1–5 scale.
- Community Ratings — Ratings from dedicated adult entertainment review communities, representing the regular-visitor perspective. These scores are normalized from their original scale to a 1–5 scale for consistency.
How We Calculate Scores
The LapMap Score uses a confidence-weighted average:
- Each source’s rating is weighted by the logarithm of its review count. More reviews = higher confidence = more weight.
- Community ratings receive a 1.5x confidence bonus because reviewers on these platforms tend to provide more detailed, venue-specific feedback.
- The weighted ratings are combined into a single score and rounded to one decimal place.
Why This Approach
Google reviews capture the casual visitor experience but can be skewed by non-customers or one-time visitors. Community reviews capture the regular’s perspective but may have a smaller sample. By combining both with confidence weighting, the LapMap Score reflects both breadth and depth of feedback.
Venue Data Collection
Venue information (hours, prices, amenities, contact details) is collected from Google Places API, community platforms, and venue-provided information. We cross-reference across sources and flag discrepancies for manual review.
Data is refreshed periodically to maintain accuracy. Each venue page displays information based on the most recent data available from our sources.
Venue Classifications
- Full Nude — Venues featuring fully nude performers. Often BYOB due to local alcohol regulations.
- Topless — Venues featuring topless performers. Typically serve alcohol.
- Strip Club — General classification when the specific nudity level is not confirmed.
- Pastie Bar — Venues where performers wear pasties. Always serve alcohol.
